attracts county women

The Dakota Prairie Creative Society held a program for all ladies to learn how to make their lives better in 2012. The NEW YEAR, NEW YOU event was held in the basement of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare, Thursday, Jan. 19.

Organized by DPCS board members, the presenters on hand offered a variety of information from tips of health and wellness, organization, fashion, skin care, trends, and more.

MLS music students win "Top Ten Club Award" from International Music Camp
On Wednesday, January 4th, 2012, Dr. Tim Wollenzien, musical director of the International Peace Camp came to the MLS - Mohall School to enlighten the students about the opportunities the International Music Camp offers. Students that attend this camp acquire new skills and also have the opportunity to meet new friends.
Dr. Wollenzien presented an award, called the “Top Ten Club Award” to Barbara Nelson-Schach, band/choir director at the MLS School. This award signifies that the MLS Public School is one of the top ten schools in North Dakota with a higher percentage of music students attending the International Music Camp. This is the first time that MLS - Mohall has received this award.

Opdahl Named
Business Manager at North Central Electric

Lori Opdahl has been named the business manager for North Central Electric Cooperative. Opdahl who was working as the cooperative's accounting coodinator started her new position November 7, 2011. She replaces Dennis Nickelson who resigned his position with the cooperative.
"We are very excited to have Lori as our new business manager." says Wayne Martian, general manager of the cooperative. Opdahl has been with the cooperative since March 2009.
"Her knowlege of the cooperative's accounting and business practices will prove to be a big asset in her position as the cooperative's business manager." Martian believes.
Opdahl is looking forward to the challenge of her new position. As business manager, she oversees the business department and is responsible for the cooperative's electric billing, material billing, accounting and payroll processes, among other duties.
“I'm looking forward to working more closely with the cooperative's diverse membership." she says.
Opdahl says she has good people working in her department and they will help her adjust to her new duties.
A native of Underwood, Opdahl graduated from Minot High School. She then attended Minot State University and received a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She is also a certified public accountant.
Her husband Mitch, and she are North Central Electric Cooperative members, living just north of Bottineau. They have one adult son Rob.
In her spare time, she likes to read, and enjoys gardening and working in her yard. She likes to travel too.
Opdahl enjoys working for the cooperative. "It's like having a second family." she says.
Congratulations and good luck to Lori Opdahl on being named business manager of North Central Electric Cooperative.
Lori Opdahl is the daughter-in-law of Carroll and Barb Opdahl of Westhope.
