Coach Wayne Brackenbury's Lady Mavericks finsh second in the state
up with Killdeer. The Mavericks knocked off the Cowboys 49 to 37 to advance to the championship game.

MLS matched up with Langdon in the State ‘B’ title game on Saturday, March 5th. The Cardinals defeated the Mavericks 48 to 41 for the title.

The Mavericks also brought home a Sportsmanship Award, and the Mohall Lansford Sherwood School District won the Spirit Award.

A complete wrap-up of the Girls’ State Class ‘B’ Tournament, along with photos will appear in next week’s issue of the Renville County Farmer.

Two MLS students named at Academic All-State teams
The Academic All-State Class A and B Teams have been selected in recognition of academic excellence. Selection criteria include grade point average and ACT/SAT test scores.

Jared Peterson from MLS-Mohall High School has been chosen as a Silver Team member, and Amy Mugaas from MLS-Sherwood High School has been chosen as an
Honorable Mention Team member.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Team members will be presented a certificate of merit by the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals. In addition, the NBC North Dakota Sports Network will present a medallion to each winner during a televised "Parade of Academic Champions" at the Class A Basketball Tournament in Fargo on March 11, 2005 and the Class B Basketball Tournament in Minot on Friday, March 18, 2005.

Certificates of Merit will be sent to Honorable Mention Team members from the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals.

Glenburn Food Pantry is now operational

The Glenburn Food Pantry is operational and ready to provide food to people who qualify. Tony Alef, center, Mayor of Glenburn, is presenting the keys to Dolly Alef, President of the Hooterville Flion Lions and to Tom Unerfusser, chairman of the Food Pantry Committee for the Glenburn Lions.
