The fall weather has arrived -- the past week has been cool, damp, and wet. I wasnít going to turn on my heat at home yet, but on Wednesday night after we received all that rain, I went home and was chilled by the time I got there. I walked in the house and it felt just like being outside, so I decided I needed to warm up and it wasnít going to be under a blanket for the rest of the night. So the thermostat got turned up to 65. It at least took the chill off and now when I walk in the house it is at least comfortable to sit down and watch TV and relax. We did manage to have a couple of nice Indian Summer fall days, but by Thursday night and Friday it was back to the wet, damp weather.

When I went to work on Friday it was raining and I was hoping that by the time the football game was going to start that we would be seeing sunshine and warmer temps. But, that wasnít in the plan, so we had to either watch the game all bundled up and standing in the wind or try to see the game from the vehicle. Since I hadnít been feeling all that well the past few days, I chose the later. The crowd was down from previous games, so I was able to see the entire game from where I was sitting. Plus, I stayed warm -- it helps when you can turn the vehicle on every now and then to keep it warm.

Iím hoping that the weather will change a bit and we can enjoy some more Indian Summer and be able to finish up the football season sitting in the stands and cheering on the Mavericks! The boys are doing really well -- with just one regular season game to go, they are undefeated in Region 6 play and they have been fun to watch! They will travel to Crosby on Friday night to play the Divide County Maroons, which are always a tough team. Iím hoping that this will be the year that we can beat the Maroons for a change. It would be nice to see the boys win the Region, something we havenít done for quite some time. One thing is certain, we have at least made the playoffs and that too is great for the players and fans. Keep up the good work guys -- keep believing in yourselves and your teammates and coaches and keep working hard -- that is what it takes to be winners!
Iím a great-aunt again! I would like to congratulate my niece and nephew, Amber and Billy Wimmer of Taso Robles, CA, on the birth of their son, Edison, on Friday, October 2nd.

Also, Happy Anniversary to my cousins, Rachel (Brudvik) and Tyler Carlson of MN on October 8th; and a Happy Birthday to my cousin, Guy Erickson of Sidney, MT on the 11th of October. Love and best wishes to all of you!
In closing, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to my cousins, Donnette Odom and Scott Erickson and their families on the loss of their dad, my uncle and godfather, Don Erickson. Uncle Don passed away on Sunday afternoon and will definitely leave a void in our family and in my life. I will miss his phone calls, emails, his laughter, his humor, and most of all his love and kind words. But I know he is at peace, and most of all, he is with Aunt Betty, who he has missed greatly since she passed.
