LoAyne Voigt presented 2015 Distinguished Service Award

The North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association gives an award every year to an individual that has made significant contributions to agriculture at the local, county, regional, and state level. This has become a very difficult task, as they have had some great nominees. This year the award went to LoAyne Voigt.

Louie has been the Renville County Extension Ag Agent in Mohall for over 25 years. She goes above and beyond her call of duty in the way she mentors many new Extension Ag Agents. She helps them in all areas of agriculture. She is very active in assisting them with the understanding and implementing of the Seed Increase Program and answering their many questions. She has hosted various new agent trainings around the state. Louie also has a strong Seed Increase Program in her county. Annually, LoAyne offers spring crop clinics in Renville County and shares this information with neighboring counties.

With the assistance of the Renville - Bottineau Ag Improvement Association, she coordinates a county research/demonstration site and crop tour each year. Louie is very instrumental in the programming of the annual (71st) North Central Seed Show and Ag Expo which consists of a seed show, commercial exhibits, ag and home and energy programs, just to name a few.

She has been a member of numerous local and state boards and has received several Program of Excellence awards. LoAyne has also participated in national programs such as National County Agentsí Association meeting, Public Issues Leadership Development (PILD) conference, and the National Extension Leadership Development (NELD) program.

The North Dakota Crop Improvement and Seed Association was proud to present the 2015 Distinguished Service Award to LoAyne Voigt.

Carol Cooper is new Librarian
at the Mohall Public Library

Carol Cooper of Mohall has been hired by the Mohall City Council as the new Librarian at the Mohall Public Library. She will be replacing Sarah Jensen, who is retiring at the end of this month. There were seven applications for the position and Carol was one of the three candidates to be interviewed by the Mohall Public Library Board. The Board then recommended to the Council that she be hired to fill the position. The Council approved that appointment on February 9th.

Cooper is a 1985 graduate from La Porte City High in Iowa. She attended the Northeast Community College in Peosta, IA for two years.

She and her husband, Mark, moved to Mohall in 2012 from Sevierville, TN. They have two grown sons, Steven and Andrew.

Carol has been training under Sarah Jensen, the current Librarian, since March 2nd. She will be replacing Sarah, who is retiring at the end of this month.

Cooper is excited about her new challenge as Librarian, and is looking forward to an exciting summer. She loves to read, as well as knitting and crocheting.

The Mohall Public Library now has a Facebook page, which Carol has created, for those who would like to keep up-to-date on new arrivals. Those interested may also post questions, opinions, and comments on the Facebook page as well. You are invited to check out their Facebook page and post your likes and dislikes on the page.

A Retirement Open House is being held for Sarah Jensen on Monday, March 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mohall Public Library. Stop in and enjoy goodies with Sarah and at the same time meet Carol, if you havenít already done so.
