New officers elected for
Mohall Chamber of Commerce

The Mohall Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting at The Prairie Bistro on Wednesday, April 15th.

This being their annual meeting, election of officers was held. Elected as officers to serve for the 2015-2016 year were:

President: Bonnie Locken
Vice President: Cheryl Overby.
Secretary: Danielle Petersen.
Treasurer: Clarissa Brackenbury.
Directors: Al Scherr, Jessica Fitzsimmons, and LaVonne Erickson.

The Mohall Chamber of Commerce meets the second Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13th and will be held at The Prairie Bistro.

Membership letters for the year were sent out in January. Cost for businesses to join is $100.00 and $25.00 for associate members. Memberships may be paid to Clarissa Brackenbury.

Test Tornado Drill for Renville County is scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th
An annual TEST tornado warning DRILL is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 29th. This is part of the NDDES WARNEX exercise. The TEST tornado warning will be issued for all 53 counties in North Dakota. The TEST will be issued around 11:15 a.m. that day.

The purpose of this exercise is to test the outdoor severe summer weather warning systems within the county. Cities within the county will be conducting their TEST at 11:15 a.m., in which you will hear the outdoor siren sound.

MLS Mohall PTO Dance Friday, May 8th

The MLS Mohall PTO will be having a PTO Dance on Friday, May 8th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the old gym at the MLS-Mohall School. The dance is for students that attend both the Mohall and Sherwood Schools, and is for students in grades 3 through 6.

All students must be accompanied by a parent/adult to attend.

a lonely, homebound senior

Many lonely, homebound seniors in Renville County (Sherwood, Mohall, Glenburn) go extended periods of time without a friendly visit. You can make a difference when you serve as a senior companion and provide much needed companionship, social recreation, and help with light tasks to your older neighbors in need. You will make new friendships and brighten a seniorís day!

Other benefits to becoming a senior companion include a tax-free hourly stipend, travel reimbursement, paid holidays and time off, and ongoing training opportunities.

If you are 55 years of age or older, of low- to mid-income and available to serve 15 hours per week, contact Sonja Mickelson, western North Dakota program coordinator, at (701) 838-7800 for more information about becoming a senior companion volunteer.

Lutheran Social Services Senior Companions is seniors helping seniors live independently by providing free weekly home visits throughout North Dakota funded by government grants and private donations. It is a program of Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota, a nonprofit social services agency serving thousands of North Dakotans with affordable housing, food, disaster response, counseling and therapy, and more. Established in 1919, Lutheran Social Services serves clients without regard to race, religion, gender, or economic status.
