Dedication of Altar Cross held at Good Samaritan Society - Mohall
The decorative hand carved oak came from a discarded podium from St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Mohall. Connole stated, “There was just enough individual pieces of the beautiful wood to create the cross.” The design of the cross was inspired by the small pieces of the hand carved oak. She went on to say, “We were thrilled to find such an appropriate and honored use for the wood.”

The dark brown wood that outlines the carved wood is reclaimed pine that the Connoles had on hand. The neutral gray stained backing is recycled wood from a hollow core door. “This piece allows for separation between the small tile back-ground and the design in the hand carved cross,” commented Connole.

Tin foil was then added on the back of the hollow core door to help reflect the light which adds to the three dimensional look.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the cross in person, stop in at the Good Samaritan Society - Mohall and take a close look at it.

This beautiful cross replaces the retired Good Samaritan logo, which had previously hung on that wall.
