The MLS Mavericks’ football team held their end of the year awards banquet at the EMS Facility in Mohall on Friday, November 20th. Following the meal, prepared by parents of the senior players, Coach Cale Peterson spoke on the success that the Mavericks had this season. MLS-Mohall PTO purchases new supplies for students through their fundraising efforts

The MLS-Mohall PTO is off to a great start this year with their fundraising efforts. The Homecoming week traveling realty signs, 31 bag raffle, and Nodak Arms raffle were a HUGE success. Some of the proceeds of those fundraising efforts went out to the playground. Pictured left to right are Kristy Titus, Laura Savelkoul, Faye Beck, and Crystal Labatore, members of the MLS-Mohall PTO, with the new ball-rack and equipment that was purchased. Two racks and over 40 balls, totaling close to $1,000 were purchased. Additional books for reading month were also purchased.

If you’re wondering what the PTO is all about, be sure to attend their next meeting. It is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Area of the MLS-Mohall School. Local supporters and active members are key to continuing to do great things for the school, which is a large part of the community!

Holiday events to be held in
Mohall this Friday, November 27th

With Thanksgiving being celebrated this Thursday, November 26th, that means Black Friday will follow on Friday, November 27th. Mohall will be holding their traditional after Thanksgiving holiday events that evening.

Events will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Santa stopping in at Citizens State Bank at Mohall to visit with the children and have his picture taken with them, and to see what is on their wish list for Christmas.

At 7:00 p.m., the annual Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Mohall Chamber of Commerce, will be held. Anyone wishing to have an entry in the parade should begin lining up in the Farmers Union Oil parking lot at 6:15 p.m. The lighted entries will make their way through Mohall’s Main Street for all to view. Entries will be judged and the winner will receive the traveling trophy, which will be announced later that evening.

Following the Parade of Lights, participating businesses will be holding their holiday open houses at the Millennium Hall. This will be a time for businesses to thank their patrons for supporting them throughout the year. Businesses that wish to participate in the open house social should contact Bonnie Locken at Dakota West Credit Union in Mohall as soon as possible.

Again this year, participating businesses will be decorating a 3’ prelit tree in a theme of their choice. The decorated trees will be judged by those attending the business social. The businesses are to choose a special charity or organization to help out this holiday season, and if their tree is one of the top three winners, that charity or organization will receive a cash prize. Everyone in attendance will be allowed one vote for their favorite decorated charity tree. Prizes for the top three winners will be: $75 for first place; second place - $50; and third place - $25.00. Once the votes are counted, all the names will be put into a drawing for the $200.00 in Mohall Money (8 - $25.00 winners) to be given away by the Mohall Chamber of Commerce. You must be present to win the Mohall Money.

The Chamber of Commerce also invites you to start decorating your homes for the Deck the House Holiday Lighting Contest to be held again this year. Judging of the homes will take place the week of December 13th to 20th, with prizes to be awarded at half-time of the MLS vs. Kenmare Girls’ Basketball game on Monday, December 21st in Mohall. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winners. Prizes will be Mohall Money and will be $75 for first place; $50 for 2nd place; and $25 for 3rd place.

Make Mohall your stop on Friday, November 27th and come enjoy the festivities.
