PATRICIA ANKENBAUER
March 3, 1929 - Jan. 14, 2015
Patricia ďPatĒ Beverly Ankenbauer, 85, of Kenmare, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 in a Kenmare Hospital. Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 19 at 2:00 p.m. in Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Pat was born March 3, 1929 at Drake, ND, the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Krueger) Hanson. She was raised and educated at Drake and graduated from Drake High School.

As a young adult she attended various colleges, including, Midwestern Airline School in Kansas City, MO, Minot State College, the Bottineau School of Forestry, Horace Mann Floral Design in Denver, Hotel Management School in Des Moines, IA and Medical Records and Coding School in Chicago, IL.

Pat was once married to Richard Ankenbauer on February 18, 1950. They divorced in 1976. Throughout the years, she was employed at Van Deusenís Specialties in Kansas City, Annís Shop, JC Penneyís, Ben Franklin and Kenmare Deaconess Hospital, all in Kenmare; the Ramada Inn and Mercy Hospital, both Williston and most recently with Evanís Family Resort in Provincetown, MA.

In addition, Pat had owned and operated Ankenbauer Roller Rink, Ankenbauer Coal, Gravel, Ready Mix and Excavating, Patís Fashion Fabrics and Patís Floral Shop all of Kenmare.

She also owned Patís Drive Inn of Bowbells for a time. She had resided in Williston for 18 years prior to her moving to Provincetown, MA in 2005. She returned to Kenmare in August of 2010.

Pat was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. She enjoyed roller skating, bowling and hunting.

Pat is survived by her sister, Dorothy Newlin of Mount Dora, FL.; several nieces and nephews, including, Kate Newlin, Dale Newlin and great niece, Mattie Newlin.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darwin Hanson.

AGNES SLATER
April 16, 1917 - Jan. 15, 2015
Agnes Slater, 97, of Minot, ND, formerly of Columbus, passed away peacefully with her children at her side Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Interment will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Columbus Cemetery, Columbus.

Agnes Irene Busch was born on the family homestead near Lignite, ND, April 16, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Sauer) Busch. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Lignite. She graduated from Lignite High School in 1935. Agnes was a standout on the 1934 Class C Girls State Championship Basketball team the Lignite Owls.

Agnes married Robert T. Slater, the love of her life on February 19, 1938. They made their home on the Slater homestead, northwest of Columbus and continued farming. From this union, eight children, Polly, James, Tim, Patricia, John, Mark, Mary Monica and Judith Ann, were born.

Robert passed away May of 1960.

She moved to Minot in the summer of 1966, where she continued operating her farm and raising her family. Agnes spent over 30 winters in her home in Mesa, AZ. Agnes was a pioneer in developing the north side of Strawberry Lake in McLean County.

In 2011, she became a resident of the Wellington Assisted Living in Minot.

Agnes was a longtime supporter of Bishop Ryan High School, a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of many associations including the Elks, Women of Moose Lodge, many bridge clubs, and other charity clubs.

Agnes was a loving mother, who enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play football, baseball, and wrestling.
Agnes especially loved the game of football highlighted by attending Super Bowl XV in which her youngest son, Mark, was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

She enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Phoenix Suns. Agnes was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She loved traveling to see her kids.

Agnes was a great card player and a Master Bridge Player as well as any other card game. She had an extraordinary and exceptional memory and always was quick with a good joke and had a sharp wit. Anyone who ever got to know Agnes Slater will never forget her! She was one of a Kind!

She is survived by her children, Polly Abernathey (Jim) of Minot, James Slater (Carol) of Waconia, MN, Tim Slater (Cheri) of Avon Lake, OH, Patricia Slater and John Slater, both of Minot, Mark Slater (Rachel) of Norwood Young America, MN;

sister, Mary Pugh (Albert) of Bottineau; sister-in-law, Eileen Busch (Henry)of Lander, WY.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Slater; infant daughters, Mary Monica and Judith Ann; daughter-in-law, Judy Slater; brothers, Joe (Rosella) Busch, Norbert (Virginia) Busch, Bill Busch, Francis (Gloria) Busch, and Henry ďBudĒ Busch; sisters, Leonella (Ed) McDonald, Rose (Arnold) Sandberg, Helen (Larry) Rogers, and Mildred Busch.

Memorials: are preferred to the Agnes Slater Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bishop Ryan Catholic School or to an organization of the donorís choice.

ANASTHASIA WADMAN
Sept. 21, 1957 - Jan. 14, 2015
Anasthasia Wadman, 57, of Columbus, ND passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at her home in Columbus.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Noonan.

Anasthasia was born on September 21, 1957 in Poughkippsee, NY, the daughter of Erwin and Vera (Garbounoff) Henze. Her name came from her grandfather Micheal Garbounoff who named her after the Russian Czar ll's daughter Anastasia Romanov. She was very proud of her family roots that came from Russia and Switzerland.

The family moved west to Colorado in the 1970ís. Anasthasia started working at a young age in hospitals, restaurants, bars and hotels. She worked very hard her entire life. She met Oscar Wadman who is the love of her life, she met in Englewood, CO. They moved to North Dakota from Ohio in 1992. Then in 2002 they purchased The Bear Motel in Columbus.

She had a deep unconditional love for all her nieces and nephews. She loved her 1930ís and 1940ís classic movies. She lived one of her dreams by going on an Elvis Presley cruise from Florida to the Bahamas. Anasthasia loved life to the fullest, smiled everyday, laughed often and loved much, brought joy to those who didnít know her, and loved her family unconditionally.

Anasthasia was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Erwin Henze Sr; brother, George Henze; and sister, Heidi Henze.

She is survived by her husband, Oscar Wadman; daughter, Anasthasia V. Armstrong and son, Jeffery L. Henze;

granddaughter, Anastasia B. Armstrong; sister, Chris Henze; brothers, Erwin Henze Jr, David Henze and Walter Henze; sisters-in-law, Donna Fagerland and Sharon Foresman; and niece, Nadia L. Portwood; and nephew, Hans Imsland.

CARROLL BOLEN
July 6, 1926 - Jan. 17, 2015
Carroll Dean Bolen, 88, of Powers Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley. Funeral service will be Thursday, Jan. 22 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Powers Lake.

Visitation is Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Springan Funeral Home, Stanley and Thursday one hour prior, to the start of the service, in the church.

Interment will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, rural Powers Lake.

Carroll was born on July 6, 1926 in Herrin, IL, the son of Luther and Marie (Jenkins) Bolen. When he was six the family moved to Rock Springs, WY where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Rock Springs High School and then proudly enlisted in the United States Navy where he served until his honorable discharge.

Carroll was united in marriage to Elizabeth ďBettyĒ Mollet on Sept. 1, 1967 in Seattle. In 1969, they moved to Burlington, WY where they owned and operated a cattle ranch. Carroll was a Brand Inspector for the State of Wyoming for 20 years. He served on the Farmers Canal Irrigation District board, volunteered on the Burlington Ambulance and Fire Department and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

In 1999, they sold their ranch and moved to Fernley, NV. While living in Fernley, he was a member of Gift of Grace Lutheran Church. In 2011 they moved to Powers Lake. Carroll entered the Mountrail Bethel Home in 2011.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth of Powers Lake; sons, Jim Bolen (Deb) of Elmhurst, IL and Richard Bolen (Val) of Powers Lake; daughter, Mary Beth Bolen of Espanola, NM;

grandchildren, Janice Savage, Daniel Bolen and Kaylee Bolen; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Loreine Bolen.
