National Nursing Home Week being celebrated



National Nursing Home Week
This week is National Nursing Home Week and the Good Samaritan Society - Mohall has several activities planned during the week.
Today, Wednesday, May 15th: Tom Schrader of KXMC will speak at 2:15 p.m. of ND weather.
Thursday, May 16th: FREE Community Barbecue and picnic from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Plus you may bid on the Silent Auction Baskets.
Friday, May 17th: Volunteer Tea at 2:00 p.m.
There are other events throughout the week, and the public is welcome to attend

















Sonja Stromswold presented Woman of Distinction award.





Sonja Stromswold is the recipient of this year’s YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Renville County. The YWCA Minot Women of Distinction (WOD) Award recognizes and honors professional women from the private and public sectors from across their eight county service area who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and integrity in their fields and in the community, serving as role models for other successful women. Nominations from across the region were solicited to find leaders whose work has truly made an impact on their communities.
The YWCA Minot Women of Distinction Awards include honorees for contributions in Business, Community Service, Education, Military, Young Women of Today and Tomorrow, Faith Community, Volunteer Service, Lifetime Achievement, and one honoree from each county served including Bottineau, Burke, McLean, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, and Ward.
Sonja Stromswold was nominated and selected because of her business entrepreneurship, being owner of Sonja’s Old Fashioned Delicacies, The Flower House Garden Center, and The Prairie Bistro in Mohall. She has employed more than 40 people in the past 23 years, mostly women and girls. The 2013 WOD Recipients were honored at a gala on Thursday, April 18th at the Grand Hotel in Minot.

The YWCA Minot is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Over two million people participate each year in YWCA programs at more than 1,300 locations across the U.S. Worldwide, the YWCA serves more than 25 million women and girls in 125 countries. The Minot YWCA operates the only homeless shelter in the City of Minot, the Center of Hope, for homeless women and children. Memberships are available for individuals, organizations, and businesses.
