KB-MLS girls
lose to Stanley 3 to 4

The Kenmare/Bowbells - Mohall Lansford Sherwood girls’ fastpitch team opened up their 2014 season on the road, when they traveled to Stanley on Monday, April 7th. KB-MLS came up short, as they lost to Stanley by a run, 3 to 4.

Team and individual statistics were not provided for this game.

On Friday, April 11th, KB-MLS hosted Central McLean for a double-header. KB-MLS won both of those games. Score of the first game was 11 to 8 and the second game was 13 to 0. Photos from this game, as well as game statistics, will appear in next week’s issue of the Renville County Farmer.
KB-MLS was to host Watford City on Monday, April 14th at Mohall.

Next action scheduled for KB-MLS is Thursday, April 17th when they will travel to Berthold for a conference game against DesLacs/ Burlington. Then on Tuesday, April 22nd, KB-MLS will host Stanley at Kenmare. Games times are 4:00 p.m.

MLS-G-KB Muskrats lose to Lewis and Clark/Parshall 8 to 4

The Mohall Lansford Sherwood-Glenburn - Kenmare/Bowbells Muskrats opened up their 2014 baseball season on Tuesday, April 8th when they hosted Lewis and Clark/Parshall at Lansford.

Lewis and Clark/Parshall scored two runs in the top of the first and the Muskrats answered with a run of their own. Then in the bottom of the third, the Muskrats tied the game up at 2 all. It remained a 2 to 2 game until the top of the fifth, when Lewis and Clark/ Parshall scored another run to go up 3 to 2. MLS-G-KB managed to again tie the game up, when they scored a run in the bottom of the 6th, making it a 3 to 3 game. At the end of seven complete innings the game was still tied at 3 to 3, so extra innings were needed to determine the winner. Lewis and Clark/Parshall came up with 5 runs in the top of the 10th to win the game, as the Muskrats could only answer with a single run. The final score was 8 to 4 in favor of Lewis and Clark/Parshall.

Jordan Nelson who relieved Alex Nelson was credited with the win for Lewis and Clark/Parshall. Seeing action on the mound for MLS-G-KB was starting pitcher, Riley Brown, who was relieved by Hunter Rodin, who took the loss, and Rodin was relieved by Connor Brackenbury.

For the game, Lewis and Clark/ Parshall scored their 8 runs on 11 hits, had no errors, and left 7 men on base. MLS-G-KB scored their 4 runs on 14 hits, had one error, and left 12 men stranded on base.

Getting hits for the local team were: Douglas Winzenburg 3, Connor Brackenbury 2, Talon Thompson 2, Berkley Santos 2, Trevor Evanger 2, Riley Brown 1, and 1 unaccounted for.

A second game was played between the two teams, but that ended in a 4 to 4 tie, as the game had to be called due to darkness.






MLS-G-KB Muskrats defeat DesLacs/Burlington 10 to 2

The Mohall Lansford Sherwood - Glenburn - Kenmare/Bowbells Muskrats were back on the diamond on Thursday, April 10th when they traveled to Berthold to play a district game against DesLacs/Burlington. MLS-G-KB evened their record at 1-1 with their 10 to 2 win.

MLS-G-KB scored the first runs of the game, when they came up with 4 runs in the top of the third. The Muskrats increased that lead to 10 to 0 in the fifth, as they scored another 5 runs in the fourth and a solo run in the top of the fifth. DesLacs/Burlington finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth, when they came up with 2 runs, cutting the Muskrats’ lead to 10 to 2. That is how the game ended, as neither team scored any runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

For the game, MLS-G-KB scored their 10 runs on 10 hits, while DesLacs/Burlington scored their 2 runs on 6 hits. The Muskrats committed 6 errors, while their opponents only had 5 errors.

On the mound and picking up the win for the Muskrats was Connor Brackenbury, who was relieved in the seventh inning by Douglas Winzenburg. Connor recorded 10 strikeouts against 26 batters, gave up 1 walk, and put a runner on by hitting him with a pitch. Winzenburg faced the final 4 batters for DLB. Losing pitcher for DLB was Austin Schestler, who was relieved in the fourth by Cole Groshe.

Earning hits for the Muskrats were: Trevor Evanger 2 (a single and a double); Talon Thompson 1 single; Connor Brackenbury, 2 singles; Douglas Winzenburg 3 (a single, a double, and a home run); Riley Brown 1 double; and Hunter Rodin 1 double.

On Friday, April 11th, the Muskrats traveled to Ray for a conference game. Then on Monday, April 14th they were at Watford City. Results from those games were not know by the RCF deadline.

Next action scheduled for the Muskrats is Thursday, April 17th when they will host Stanley at Lansford. A doubleheader is scheduled, with a start time of 4:15 p.m. Then on Tuesday, April 22nd, MLS-G-KB will host New Town for a doubleheader in Lansford. That will also have a start time of 4:15 p.m.

CNDC Indoor Meet
The Central North Dakota Conference (CNDC) Indoor Track and Field Meet was held on the campus at Minot State University on Friday, April 4th. Mohall Lansford Sherwood was among the teams participating at the meet.

Their results were as follows:

VARSITY BOYS:
1600 M Relay: 6th place - Alex Weight, Zach Herigstad, David Warren, and Tanner Driscoll.
3200 M Relay: 6th place - Alex Weight, Dillon Mortensen, Jacob Gates, and Zach Herigstad.
Tanner Driscoll: Tied for 8th place in High Jump.

VARSITY GIRLS:
Hailee Depute: 1st in Long Jump; and 5th in 200 M Dash.
Macy Sundahl: 5th in Shot Put.
Kaitlyn Nokes: Tied for 6th in High Jump.

Williams County Invite
On Thursday, April 10th, the Mohall Lansford Sherwood track teams traveled to Tioga for the Williams County Invite. Both a junior high and a varsity division were held. Results for the Mavericks were as follows:
GIRLS’ VARSITY:

MLS finished 3rd out of seven teams with 85 points.

Hailee Depute: 1st in Long Jump; 1st in 200 M Dash; 1st in 400 M Dash; and 2nd in 100 M Dash.
Klesa Christian: 1st in High Jump; 4th in 100 M Dash; and 6th in Long Jump.
Macy Sundahl: 1st in Shot Put; and 3rd in Triple Jump.
Morgan Depute: 3rd in Javelin; 5th in 100 M Dash; and 8th in 200 M Dash.
Kodie Christian: 5th in Shot Put; and 2nd in Discus.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS:
MLS team finished 1st with 112 points.

Kaitlyn Nokes: 1st in High Jump; and 1st in Long Jump.
Brittney Weight: 4th in 200 M Dash; and 6th in 100 M Dash.
Antonia Eide: 2nd in 200 M Dash; and 3rd in High Jump.
Alli Girard: 2nd in 800 M Run; and 2nd in 300 M Hurdles.
Donna Eide: 1st in Shot Put; and 1st in Discus.
Grace Solemsaas: 3rd in Shot Put; 4th in Discus; and 5th in Long Jump.
400 M Relay: 1st - Brittney Weight, Antonia Eide, Alli Girard, and Kaitlyn Nokes.
