North Central North Dakota Music Festival held at MLS-Sherwood

The annual North Central North Dakota Elementary Music Festival was held at the MLS-Sherwood School on Friday, April 17th. There were 600+ students participating in this year’s event from nine different schools and two home schooled families. Participants were from Glenburn, Lewis and Clark - Berthold, Lewis and Clark - North Shore/Plaza, MLS - Mohall, MLS - Sherwood, Our Redeemer’s, Parshall, South Prairie, Stanley, and the two home schooled families - Drangsholts and Roelofs, both of Mohall. The contest was for vocal, instrumental, and piano. There were a total of 460 entries that had to be judged throughout the day.

Concessions were served throughout the day by the MLS Music Boosters.

Joint Land Use Study meetings being held
Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) for Minot Air Force Base and Outlying Facilities in Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, McLean, Mountrail, Renville, Sheridan, and Ward Counties are scheduled.

Throughout an eight county area, the Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) has documented areas of conflict between the Air Force, local community growth, and other development. Three meetings will be held April 28th, 29th, and 30th to present proposed core conflict issues and strategies intended to resolve existing and future conflicts. All are highly encouraged to attend, to learn more about the project and provide input.

The first of the three meetings was held yesterday, Tuesday, April 28th in Mohall at the EMS Facility.

The two remaining meetings are:
• Tonight, Wednesday, April 29th in Minot from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Room 301 of the City Auditorium located at 420 3rd Ave. SW.

• Thursday, April 30th in Stanley from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Community Hall of the Mountrail County South Complex located at 8103 61st St. NW.

The JLUS is a collaborative planning effort including the military, local communities, and other stakeholders. This project focuses on Minot Air Force Base and related facilities and operations in all eight counties where the Air Force has a presence. The end goal is to improve compatibility of existing and future development in areas near military facilities.

Northwest Basketball Camp May 26th to 29th

The dates for the 2015 Northwest Basketball Camp have been scheduled for May 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th at the MLS-Mohall School.

Camp is open to all boys and girls in grades 1 through 8. Registration forms are available at the MLS-Mohall and MLS-Sherwood Schools.

Watch for further information on the camp.

Mohall Park Board looking for pool manager and lifeguards
The summer months will soon be upon us, and the Mohall Park Board is looking for a pool manager and lifeguards for the 2015 season.

If you are interested in being the pool manager or being a lifeguard, you may pick up an application from Cheryl Overby at the Mohall City Auditor’s Office.

All applications must be returned to the Mohall City Auditor’s Office by Friday, May 8th.

Lifeguard Certification Class
All lifeguards must be certified. A Lifeguard Certification Class will be held in Mohall at a later date.

If you are interested in attending the class and becoming certified, you are asked to contact Megan Nelson at 818-7894.
