Muskrats split with Watford City

The MLS-G-KB Muskrats hosted Watford City on Monday, April 20th at Lansford for a doubleheader. Both games counted towards the teams’ season records, as an earlier game in Watford City had to be postponed due to the weather.

In game one, Watford City got on the boards first, as they scored a run in the top of the first, but the Muskrats came back and tied things up in the bottom of the first, with a run of their own. Watford City then took a 4 to 1 lead in the top of the third, as they scored three runs in that inning. The Muskrats cut into that lead in the bottom of the fourth when they managed to get another run home, making it a 4 to 2 game in favor of Watford City. However, the Wolves answered with a run in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 5 to 2. Then in the bottom of the fifth, Connor Brackenbury stepped to the plate and jacked one out of the park for a solo homerun, making it a 5 to 3 game. But the top of the sixth was a big inning for Watford City as they scored 8 runs in that inning. It was now a 13 to 3 game. The Muskrats managed to muster up three runs in the bottom of the sixth, as Isaac Undlin and Wyatt Schmidt each got on with a single and a double respectively, before Brett Froseth stepped to the plate and sent the ball over the left field fence for the three run homer and the team’s second home run of the game. It was now a 13 to 6 game as the teams headed into the seventh and final inning. Watford City went on to win the game 16 to 7 as they scored another three runs in the top of the seventh and MLS-G-KB only scored one run.

For the game, Watford City scored their 16 runs on 19 hits, committed 4 errors, and left 6 men stranded on the bases. The Muskrats scored their 7 runs on 12 hits, committed 6 errors and left a total of 5 men stranded on the bases.
Losing pitcher for the Muskrats was Connor Brackenbury, who was relieved in the top of the 6th by Isaac Undlin.
The Muskrats came back in the second game and defeated Watford City 10 to 7 to get the split. MLS-G-KB had a big first inning, as they scored a total of 8 runs. The score remained 8 to 0 until the sixth inning when Watford City scored 6 runs, and the Muskrats added another run to make it a 9 to 6 game. Both teams managed to score a run in the seventh, giving the Muskrats the 10 to 7 win.
For the game, the Muskrats scored their 10 runs on 15 hits and left 8 men stranded on the bases. Watford City scored their 7 runs on 9 hits and left 6 men stranded on the bases. Neither team committed any errors in the game.
Seeing action on the mound for the Muskrats was Talon Thompson, who got the win, and Isaac Undlin, who was credited with the save.
Williams County Invite
On Saturday, April 25th, the MLS Mavericks participated in the Williams County Invite which was held in Tioga. The MLS girls finished 2nd at the meet with 126 points, and the boys also finished 2nd, as they scored 105 points.
Individual results for the Mavericks were as follows:
Macy Sundahl: 1st in Shot Put; 1st in Javelin; and 4th in Triple Jump.
Hailee Depute: 1st in 300 Meter Hurdles; and 3rd in 400 Meter Dash.
Morgan Depute: 3rd in 200 Meter Dash; and 7th in 100 Meter Dash.
Trinity Guenthner: 2nd in the 100 Meter Dash.
Summer Smith: 4th in the 100 Meter Dash.
Leah Feland: 5th in the 400 Meter Dash; 2nd in the High Jump; and 3rd in the Long Jump.
Skylar McLain: 2nd in the Shot Put; 3rd in Javelin; and 6th in the Discus.
Adri Bohm: 7th in Discus; 8th in Shot Put; and 8th in Javelin.
Landra Sjokvist: 6th in the 200 Meter Dash; and 7th in the 400 Meter Dash.
400 Meter Relay: 1st - Morgan Depute, Summer Smith, Leah Feland, and Trinity Guenthner.
800 Meter Relay: 1st - Morgan Depute, Summer Smith, Hailee Depute, and Trinity Guenthner.
Tanner Driscoll: 1st in High Jump; 1st in 400 Meter Dash; and 1st in 100 Meter Dash.
Jacob Gates: 3rd in the High Jump.
Cabe Radzwill: 2nd in Discus; 3rd in Shot Put; and 3rd in Javelin.
Beau Driscoll: 3rd in 200 Meter Dash; and 4th in High Jump.
Chase Driscoll: 7th in the 800 Meter Run.
Alex Weight: 7th in the 400 Meter Dash.
Stephen Ellingson: 6th in the 200 Meter Dash; and 6th in the 100 Meter Dash.
Cole Southam: 5th in the Long Jump.
400 Meter Relay: 2nd - Jacob Gates, Cole Southam, Stephen Ellingson, and Beau Driscoll.
800 Meter Relay: 2nd - Cole Southam, Beau Driscoll, Jacob Gates, and Tanner Driscoll.
3200 Meter Relay: 2nd - Cole Southam, Alex Weight, Chase Driscoll, and Brody Ellingson.
A Girls’ Varsity Golf Meet was held in Burlington at the Wildwood Golf Course on Tuesday, April 21st.
Delaine Hanson of Mohall Lansford Sherwood was the only golfer for the Mavericks who participated in the meet. She finished the day with a 109, golfing a 55 the first nine holes and a 54 on the second nine holes.
The MLS Girls’ Golf Team is coached by Mr. Cody Beck. Their next meet is this Thursday, April 30th when the varsity and junior varsity will travel to Stanley.
