CHS SunPrairie helps serve up
food and funds for hungry families

CHS SunPrairie joined CHS locations across the country in raising more than $512,000 and 443,000 pounds of food for hungry families through the annual CHS Harvest for Hunger food, funds, and grain drive by the Country Operations division of CHS, the nation’s leading farmer-owned cooperative.

“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a core value for us. We’re so proud of our employees, customers, and partners who contributed to help feed hungry families through CHS Harvest for Hunger. It’s exciting to be part of this effort and see how much our communities care about those in need,” says Brad Haugeberg, general manager. CHS locations in more than 300 communities participated in this annual event.

CHS SunPrairie donated their funds to eight food pantries in the communities they do business in. Both the Glenburn Food Pantry and the Mohall Food Pantry were each presented with a check for $3,255.87 last week to help stock the shelves.

Renville County 4-H winners at the North Dakota State Fair

Codee Gilbertson, Sherwood, participated in the 2014 Beef Show on Thursday, July 24th and received a Grand for her Shorthorn Heifer. She also received a Reserve on another Shorthorn Heifer.

Delaine Hanson, Sherwood, participated in the Project Expo at the 2014 North Dakota State Fair held in Minot on Monday, July 21st.

FFA tractor driving contests held

On Sunday, June 15th, the Mohall FFA chapter hosted the District 2 Tractor Driving Contest in the parking lot of the local Gooseneck Implement. Mohall had four individuals compete in the tractor driving competition: Jess Asheim and Trey Holsten competed in the advanced competition; and Statler Olson and Talon Thompson competed in the basic division. Talon Thompson received a gold rating while Jess Asheim, Trey Holsten, and Statler Olson received gold ratings and were chosen to represent District 2 at the state level.

The State Tractor Driving Contest was held on the State Fairgrounds in Minot on Friday, July 18th. On the state level, both Statler Olson and Trey Holsten received a silver rating.

The Mohall FFA expressed their appreciation to Gooseneck Implement in Mohall and Dustin Newgard for the help in running the District competition. “We couldn’t have done it without them”, stated Mohall FFA Advisor, Travis Fritel.

MHS Class of 1974 holds 40th reunion July 19th

The Mohall High School Class of 1974 met at the Mohall Golf Course on Saturday, July 19th, 2014. A potluck supper was served. Classmates came from all over, with the furthest ones coming from Colorado and South Dakota.

The class members had a great time and a special time together with bonds that will continue wherever the future takes them.

Those attending missed the classmates that could not make it.
