Improvements made at MLS schools
in preparation for upcoming school year

























It has been a busy summer for the MLS School District, as they prepared for the new school year. The buildings have had many upgrades to maintain a facility that meets and exceeds all state mandates and requirements.

MLS School District applied for competitive security grants from the state oil fund and have been successful in receiving three awards. The first award was for a security grant for buses for $25,032.00, the second school security award was for buildings in the amount of $82,843.00, and most recently, an additional building grant for $32,000.00.

The bus security grant that the district received was to place new digital 2-way radios in all of the districts’ buses. That allows drivers to contact the school and be on the state radio system. The second award, which is still being installed, contained three parts -- new exterior security doors in the Mohall building, replacement of all district interior classroom door locks for easier control, and a computer based card entry key system in Mohall. The third most recent award was an 80% match in which the district pays 20% for a hallway that will close the open space between the new shop and the main school. Construction is in progress at this time.

Other areas that have been addressed are a new roof on the Donald M. Kolbo Auditorium in Mohall. This is the last roof to receive the rubber style surface. The gym floor in the Donald M. Mohall Pool closing for the season on August 17th


If you haven’t had a chance yet this summer to try out the Mohall Pool, you only have a few days left, as the Pool will be closing for the summer on Sunday, August 17th. Sunday will be the last day, with the hours being from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Mohall Pool is open on Mondays through Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday hours are 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There are still some dog days of summer left, so get out and enjoy the cool water at the Mohall Pool.


It’s Farmers’ Market season!



The Good Samaritan Society - Mohall, along with its Auxiliary, held the first of their Farmers’ Market for the season on Wednesday, August 6th. Several couldn’t wait to get in line for the garden produce, baked goods, and whatever else was being sold.

The Farmers’ Market is held every Wednesday through the month of August, and possibly into September, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you would like to sell some of your garden produce or baked goods, call the Good Samaritan Society - Mohall at 756-6831 for table space.

“Back to School Game Day” Friday, August 15th

Good Samaritan Society - Mohall is looking for children from ages 1 to 98 to participate in their “Back to School Game Day”. Requirements to participate include: must be able to run, hop, or jump; be willing to be hit with a water balloon or an egg; fit inside a hula hoop; enjoy being tied to a partner; or love to have fun.

Anyone that meets one or more of these requirements should come to the front lawn at the Good Samaritan Society – Mohall on Friday, August 15th at 2:30 p.m. All sorts of old fashioned fun will be had. Back to school prizes will be offered. The day will be capped off with root beer floats in the dining room.

The residents are hoping to make game day an annual event and are looking forward to watching the children play and visit while enjoying ice cream.
