KBMLS qualifies for state
|
Kenmare/Bowbells/Mohall Lansford Sherwood (KBMLS) will be headed back to state, as they qualified for the State Fastpitch Tournament to be held in West Fargo on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 30th, 31st, and June 1st.
The Regional Tournament was held in Bottineau on Friday, May 17th and then had to be moved to the campus of Minot State University on Saturday, May 18th due to the wet, rainy conditions in Bottineau.
On Friday, May 17th, KBMLS played Pembina County North and beat them 3 to 1.
Tournament action got started in Minot at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, with KBMLS knocking off the #1 seed Thompson by a score of 13 to 12, allowing them to advance to state.
KBMLS then played Watford City at 12:30 a.m. (Sunday morning, finished up at 1:54 a.m.) for the championship. KBMLS will go in as the #2 team as Watford City beat them 15 to 4.

Glenburn Hosts Invitational
|
Glenburn hosted an Invitational Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 11th in Minot.
Results for the Glenburn team were as follows:
GIRLS DIVISION:
Natalie Stivers: Shot - 2nd - 34 9; and Disc - 1st - 117 5.
Elizabeth Overton: 1600 Meter Run - 4th - 6:07.06; and 800 Meter Run - 5th - 2:54.67.
Randi Long: Shot - 3rd - 34 7 1/2; and Disc - 7th - 82 9.
Latasha Dean: High Jump - 6th - 4 1; and 400 Meter Dash - 6th - 1:16.93.

MLS Qualifies two for State
|
It was a short season for the MLS boys golf team this year due to all the snow that accumulated over the winter. Many golf courses werent in shape for golfing until the last couple of weeks, and now it is already time for the State Golf Meet.
MLS was fortunate enough to have two golfers qualify for the State Meet, which will be held in Mandan at the Prairie West Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28th and 29th. Qualifying for MLS were Sam Carlson and Zak Brown.
Carlson was the medalist at the Regional Tournament held in Stanley. He shot a 74. Zak finished with a 79, which also qualified him for the State Meet.
Both boys had qualified previously, as they both shot a 79 at the Northwest Conference Meet which was held in Stanley.

Region 6 Meet
|
The Girls Region 6 Golf Meet was held on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 and was won by Stanley with a 465. Rounding out the top five teams were: 2nd - New Town/Parshall with a 469; 3rd - Watford City with a 471; 4th - MLS with a 472; and 5th - Ray with a 510.
Medalist for the meet, and qualifying for State was Callie Carlson of MLS with a 100. Other state qualifiers were: Logan Zuchara of Stanley with a 103; Gina Poitra of New Town/ Parshall with a 105; and Skylar Aberle of MLS with a 108. Rounding out the two ten individuals were: 5th - Allison Monsen of Watford City with a 110; 6th - Becca Froshaug of New Town/ Parshall with a 111; 7th - Sydney Slais of Watford City with a 114; 8th - Brooke Nielson of Stanley with a 116; 9th - Averly Taft of New Town/ Parshall with a 118; and 10th - Kendra Perdue of Ray with a 121.
Other scores for MLS were a 124, 140, and 163, however names were not provided for those scores.
Cody Beck, coach for MLS, was named the Region 6 Coach of the Year.
The Girls State Golf Meet is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28th and 29th in Bismarck.

Velva Last Chance Meet
|
Velva hosted a Last Chance Track and Field Meet on Monday, May 13th. Several teams competed in the meet including Glenburn and Mohall Lansford Sherwood. Their results were as follows:
